# From mountain guides to your hosts in the Himalaya

Himalayan Brothers is a family business led by two brothers, Chhobyang Singhe and Basudev Boudh. They guided travellers through the mountains before they ever ran a hotel. When guests kept asking for somewhere warm and local to stay, they opened one.

Today we run five hotels across Dharamshala, Spiti and the Sach Pass road. With himalayanbrothers.com we’re going back to where we started: planning the journey as well as the stay.

## How we got here

- **1997, Two brothers start out:** A small jewellery business in Puttaparthi, then years working as mountain guides in the Himalaya.
- **2008, First hotel in Dharamshala:** Guests wanted somewhere warm and local to rest after long mountain days, so we opened one.
- **2009, Samdupling & Buddha House:** Two more homes near Norbulingka in Sidhpur: a spiritual retreat and a friendly budget hotel.
- **2016, Quartz:** A 3-star hotel with balconies and a garden, for guests who want a little more comfort.
- **2019, Diwan Sachpass:** A year-round stop in Bairagarh, the last village before Sach Pass.
- **2022, Spiti Villa, Kaza:** Wooden cottages near Key Monastery, updated in 2024.
